What is Place Value?
Place value is the value of each digit in a number based on its position. For example, in 3,456:
- 3 is in the thousands place (3 × 1,000 = 3,000)
- 4 is in the hundreds place (4 × 100 = 400)
- 5 is in the tens place (5 × 10 = 50)
- 6 is in the ones place (6 × 1 = 6)
